Join our community of volunteers who are dedicated to building and transforming music industries around the world to make Pan-African art music globally accessible.
Our Team
Our community is built on the principle of unity in diversity, where the unique qualities and strengths of individuals come together to create something far larger than any one person.
Most of our regular staff is currently volunteer-based, including our Executive Director and all our Team Leads.
We welcome any and all who are eager to contribute their skills to build and grow this global platform for Pan-African art music
Volunteer Roles
Administrative (Remote)
Remote volunteers who assist our Concert, Publishing and Arts Admin teams with administrative support.
Marketing (Remote)
Remote volunteers who assist with designs, digital content creation and public relations. These roles are essential in helping us grow our global community.
Development (Remote)
Remote volunteers who assist with grant writing, research and donor relations. These roles are crucial in securing the funding necessary to sustain and grow our programs.
Publishing (Remote)
Remote volunteers who help manage our core publishing programs: Lessons & Workshops, Community Directory and Blog
Concerts & Events (Chicago)
Chicago-based volunteers who assist with our local concerts, events, classes and programs.
Advisors (Remote)
We welcome short term and long term advisors who help us improve our work. We especially appreciate input from professionals specializing in sales,
e-commerce, music publishing and nonprofit consulting.
Education & Outreach Chicago/Remote)
Local and international volunteers who participate as guest speakers for our events and programs for music education, community engagement and performing arts administration education.
College Internships
Àkójọpọ̀ has openings for Fall and Spring internships for college students. Please note that our internships are unpaid at this time.
We work closely with our interns to build personalized experiences that serve YOUR unique career goals.
Editorial Intern (Remote)
Working closely with our blog editor in managing the day-today operations of our Pan-African art music blog
Community Relations Intern (Remote)
A cross-departmental internship working closely with the Publishing, Concert and Marketing teams to develop strategic relationships and partnerships
General Management Intern (Remote)
Working with our Executive Director on operations and management of our foundation
Concert & Community Engagement Intern (Chicago)
Assisting with the programming and planning of our concert and community engagement events
Development Intern (Remote)
Working with the Development team on grant writing, donor relations and our CRM
